Acceptable Use Policy

AUP (Acceptable Use Policy)

(You agree to be bound by the AUP while connected to IRC4Fun)

The following document specifies and describes the rules and regulations for acceptable use on the IRC4Fun IRC network.

While connected to any IRC4Fun server, you must comply with the following rules. Consequences for violation of these rules are specified in Section Six (6).

Acceptable Use Policy

TABLE OF CONTENTS

1 – RULES
  • * No faked or altered user@host information;
  • * When connecting to IRC4Fun through a shell or bnc provider, limit connections to 2 per person. Each person can have a maximum of 2 account/ident/login on that shell/bnc provider. This will be strictly enforced enforced at 4 connections. No exceptions will be added;
  • * Limit connections to 3 per User or IP for Primary Access providers. This will be strictly enforced at 4 connections. Exceptions for *primary* internet access (netcafes, college dorms and a few others) can be requested by contacting abuse-com @ IRC4Fun.net;
  • * No denial of service (“DoS”) actions or abuse of IRC4Fun resources, including but not limited to flooding, cloning, mass-messaging, and mass-inviting, will be permitted;
  • * Unsolicited advertising to IRC4Fun users is not permitted;
  • * Warez, mp3, *DCC, file sharing, hate/racism, hacking, or otherwise malicious channels are not allowed to exist on IRC4Fun;
  • * Each server’s administrative team retains the right to deny access to or use of its server’s resources to any user(s), group, site, or domain, without the benefit of prior warning or notification if they so choose;
  • * By connecting to any IRC4Fun server, you hereby agree to comply with this Acceptable Use Policy as well as the policies of the individual servers, which are stated on each server’s Message of the Day (“MOTD”) (type /motd in your status window). The IRC4Fun IRC Network greatly appreciates your attention and compliance with these regulations.
  • * Upon connection to any IRC4Fun IRC Network server, you will be scanned for open proxies.  This type of check is done for the security of every user on the network.

2.A – SERVICES
  • * Users must be 13 years of age or older to register with any IRC4Fun service, including services provided by our webpage.
  • * Users may register 1 nickname and group up to 2 others to the nickname.
  • * Users may register 3 channels per USER. (Not per Nickname)
  • * Nicknames must be identified to at least once every 90 days; and Channels must be identified to at least once every 90 days to prevent them from expiring.
  • * A valid email address is required for N (NickServ) registration.
  • * Channels found to engage in unsolicited advertising to IRC4Fun users or violation of the network AUP may be subject to suspension or channel closure;
  • * vHosts can be requested via V subject to the following conditions: 1) Your vHost cannot utilize a real domain unless you can prove that you own it. 2) vHosts may not contain racial slurs/hate/malicious or otherwise deemed offensive, 3) vHosts will not be changed more often than once per 6 months.
  • * IRC4Fun Staff / IRC Operators will never ask you for your password(s)!

2.B – CSERVICE GUIDELINES

  • * Please see the latest CService Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and registration guidelines listed at the Services Web Interface (You do not have to IDENTIFY or “LOGIN” to view the AUP/Guidelines)

3 – WEBSITE COMMUNITY
The IRC4Fun Community Website (our website[s]) is governed by the Acceptable Use Policy stated below.  Any use of IRC4Fun.net, IRC4Fun.org, home.IRC4Fun.org, chat.IRC4Fun.org or r.IRC4Fun.org websites, is your agreement to be bound by all portions of the AUP.

  • Users of the IRC4Fun Website Community agree not to create Groups that are hateful, racist, or otherwise offensive in nature.  (Groups deemed to violate the AUP will be deleted or blocked upon being discovered.)
  • Warez, mp3, *DCC, file sharing, hate/racism, hacking, or otherwise malicious Groups are not allowed to exist on IRC4Fun or the IRC4Fun Web Communities;
  • You must be 13 years of age, OR older to use the IRC4Fun Website Community or register with any IRC4Fun Websites/Services.
  • Users agree NOT to Advertise (or spam) on the IRC4Fun Website Community or IRC Network.
  • We do our best to make sure that the IRC4Fun Community and Websites are safe and free of any hateful, racist, or otherwise offensive content, but we cannot guarantee it.  We need your help – report hateful, racist, or otherwise objectionable content if you happen to find it on our website.

4 – NETWORK STAFF
  • * IRC4Fun Opers & Administrators must comply with the Acceptable Operating Policy which can be found here.  Violations will result in Corrective Action.
  • * IRC4Fun provides voluntary assistance with IRC Operator (IRC Ops) personnel on an as-available basis. Official IRC4Fun channel for IRC Op assistance is #Help. IRC Operators/Services Team will assist users with nickname and channel registration, answer questions regarding services, and intervene in the event of violations of the Acceptable Use Policy.
  • * Network Staff will not involve themselves in nickname disputes where a password has been released to another user.
  • * Network Staff will not involve themselves in channel disputes involving channel ownership, channel operator hierarchy, channel bans, or the channel’s rules/management.
  • * Network Staff may not use overrides in channels where they do not have access, have not been asked for help, or are not attending to official network business.
  • * Instances of Staff abuse should be sent to Abuse-Com @ IRC4Fun.net with as much information and logs possible.

5 – DISCLAIMER
  • * The administration of the IRC4Fun does not log or monitor any traffic that may pass through their servers for content or clarity. By retaining a connection to any part of IRC4Fun, you state that you know and are willing to comply and accept these as well as any future terms of service, network policies, and user guidelines.
  • * No responsibility for computer damage, data loss, or any other related damage shall be implied by any IRC4Fun server administrator. By using any IRC4Fun server, you hereby state and agree that you release IRC4Fun, the s7 network, its servers, administrators, operators, and any other volunteer of IRC4Fun from all responsibilty or legal liability which might result from your use of IRC4Fun servers.
  • * IRC4Fun administrators reserve the right to deny access to and use of the IRC4Fun IRC network or any of its other resources, including but not limited to channel services, technical mailing lists, and FTP sites, to any user, group, site, or domain without the benefit of prior warning or notification if necessary.
  • * Please remember that you are a guest on the network at all times, and you are expected to conduct yourself accordingly.

6 – CONSEQUENCES FOR VIOLATION
  • * If you violate any rule or regulation stated in this document or on the MOTD of any IRC4Fun server, you will be subject to progressive disciplinary action, including but not limited to denial of access to any IRC4Fun server or the entire network, or legal action where applicable. Denial of access to a particular IRC4Fun server can be made at the server administrator’s discretion. Your Internet provider may be denied access to the server or network if you successfully evade a ban.
  • * The IRC4Fun IRC Network is under no circumstances to be used for illegal activities. Observed and verifiable instances may be reported to the appropriate authorities.
  • * Although the IRC4Fun network itself is a unmoderated forum, the IRC4Fun administration will cooperate fully with any officially recognized law enforcement body to the best of its capability when required to do so by force of law.

7 – APPEALING A VIOLATION
If you are banned or denied access to an IRC4Fun server or the entire network, you should follow the procedure outlined below. Please note, however, that IRC4Fun server administrators are under no obligation to take any further action if you are denied access.

  • If you are K:lined (banned from a specific server), contact the server administration (/ADMIN will display a contact e-mail address) and request the elimination of the ban, explaining how future incidents can be avoided.
  • If you are G:lined (banned from the entire network for a particular length of time), contact us and request that the ban be lifted, explaining how future incidents can be avoided.

8 – HELP AND ASSISTANCE
If you are banned or denied access to an IRC4Fun server or the entire network, you should follow the procedure outlined below. Please note, however, that IRC4Fun server administrators are under no obligation to take any further action if you are denied access.
