Major Services Changes

On Tuesday, July 20th, 2010 IRC4Fun Administration voted for a change of Services packages from Anope to Atheme. Admins (and Users) wanted a Services Package that allowed more functionality, a web-interface (coming soon!), and less confusion.

The Upgrade was started early Thursday, July 20th, 2010 with just a few hitches: One of the few hitches is that our previous Anope databases (Services Databases) were not able to be converted.  This means that all Nicknames and Channels would (unfortunately) have to be re-registered.  (Fear not, IRC4Fun Users: IRC4Fun Administrators can still utilize the old databases to verify re-registrations of channels and nicknames to prevent / reverse any attempted takeovers)

To Re-Register your Nicknames, type: /ns register mypassword my@email.addy      To Re-Register your Channels, type: /cs register #mychannel

Your Services Bots are: N (NickServ), X (ChanServ), M (MemoServ) & V (vHostServ) - You can communicate with them by using server-shortcuts such as /cs command options (for X) or /ns command options (for N) /ms command options (for M) and /hs command options (for V) -OR- Private Message the Bots directly with /msg Bot@IRC4Fun.Services COMMAND OPTIONS

Now, let’s discuss the Bright sides of the Upgrade: All registered channels will be maintained and served by X.  X will maintain all aspects of your Channel, from channel-settings to access/ban lists. W has retired and is no longer an active CService Bot.

Access Flags have been introduced and are listed below!  (Of course if you are more comfortable with VOP, AOP, SOP; you can use those levels too!)

  • +v – Enables use of the voice/devoice commands.
  • +V – Enables automatic voice.
  • +o – Enables use of the op/deop commands.
  • +O – Enables automatic op.
  • +s – Enables use of the set command.
  • +i – Enables use of the invite and getkey commands.
  • +r – Enables use of the kick, kickban, ban and unban commands.
  • +R – Enables use of the recover and clear commands.
  • +f – Enables modification of channel access lists.
  • +t – Enables use of the topic and topicappend commands.
  • +A – Enables viewing of channel access lists.
  • +F – Grants full founder access.
  • +b – Enables automatic kickban.

The special permission +* adds all permissions except +b and +F.   The special permission -* removes all permissions including +b and +F.

As always, if you need any Help or have Questions; please connect to IRC4Fun and ask in #Help or use our contact us link.

Services Upgrade: New Features!

Services underwent an upgrade that has added (and removed some obsolete) features!

NEW FEATURES:

1. CService bots (W or X) will now be automatically assigned to Channels upon registration with C (ChanServ). The assigned CService bot will join the channel whenever there are 1 or more users actively present in the channel. The assignment (once completed) is permanent and will not be changed;
2. vHosts will also be automatically assigned to Users upon registration with N (NickServ). The assigned vHost will be: Nickname!ident@IRC4Fun.Users.Nickname.
3. Have a lot of channels that you like to join, but not sure how to make a script to join them all? N (NickServ) can now automatically join you to a list of your favorite channels when you IDENTIFY to your Nickname! For more information; type:

CODE:
/ns help ajoin

OBSOLETE (REMOVED) FEATURES:

1. ChanServ LIMIT command (Removed) -This command allowed Channel Founders to set a Dynamic Channel Limit (+l) with a buffer space to prevent Floodnets from joining and flooding the channel.
This command is really obsolete; the same can be accomplished without +l being reset constantly which can be distracting from chat and generally annoying. To accomplish the same thing; simply set +j 5:5. (/mode #channel +j 5:5) This will Throttle joins per-user to joins per seconds seconds. For more help, type:

CODE:
/join #Help

If users need help with any of the new features; they are invited to

CODE:
/join #Help

and ask their questions there. If nobody is available to immediately help you in #Help; you can always send a Memo to us via:

CODE:
/ms STAFF my message here
